So im debating on getting more memory.. I just got a 5800x 3d.. i have 2x8gb G.skill 3600 CL16, that ive had for 4 years now., i noticed a lot of articles stating that duel rank is faster than single on 5000 series cpu's and i like the fps increase i see.. Im also wondering.. is 16gb really enough for gaming ? or no ? I game at 1440p.. I have a 6900xt i just got. Not sure how long ill keep it maybe a year or two at the most.. Anyway... I have no plans currently to go to 7000 platform in the near future.

I played all the games i normally play and the highest memory usage i saw was 12GB on Total war warhammer 3 and Resident evil Village was also 12gb. But i have seen reviews showing 14-16gb of usage in cyberpunk/dying light two and other games which i eventually want to get... I just dont want to hit pagefile hard and deal with slowness or low memory if it comes to that.. Anyway, does the 5800x 3d benefit from duel rank or no ? Is 32gb worth it ? or no ? The 3600 CL16 kits are 95$ right now..

Its that or get a bigger NVME drive, mine is 500gb i got 2-3 years ago when they were expensive.. shuffling games to my slower normal SSD's and deleting games is annoying, Plus im using well over 2-3 TB of storage and im keep running out of space and i think its time to get off that 1TB disk drive too...

But i dunno...

EDIT: i take it back going deeper into task manager it seems total war warhammer 3 and other games were already using a ton of pagefile to keep some actual ram available for the system.., and the game is using 15gb by itself... WOW... i guess upgrading to 32gb would be beneficial

im on 32gig ram and so far i didnt saw more than 16GB used...games max out around 12GB
perhaps your GPU has low amount of VRAM, so this swap comes from your GPU, lots of games already eats 12GB vram like nothing (at just 1440p), just noticed you have 6900xt with 16GB..so that should be fine

games shouldnt swap with your 16GB vram + 16GB ram, swap should be from windows storing unused data for quick recovery (if needed) as you dont have enough to store it in actual ram...but thats old unused data which shouldnt affect gaming at all, it may swap if you alt+tab from game

but youre right with dual sided sticks or 4x single sided does improve framerate a bit, but it is also harder to achive high RAM frequencies than with two single sided sticks, but 3600CL16 2x dualsided shouldnt be an issue
