Is GTX 1050 Ti D5 4GB right for me?

Hi all,

It looks like my old GTS 450 is (finally) dying. I want to replace it with the right card but my system's pretty old so I want to make sure I find the right match. I was looking at the GTX 1050 Ti D5 4GB and wanted to know if my system is compatible. Here are my specs:

CPU - Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.80GHz
RAM - 12.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 794MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard - MSI P55A-G55(MS-7668) (CPU 1)
PSU - 550w

I hope that's enough info. Also, I'm also open to alternate options. Any help would be much appreciated.

RX 570 > GTX 1050 ti for the same price if not cheaper.

Did you ever consider a RX570?

I've been pretty out of the loop with regards to graphics cards, but I'm open to other options. Is that a better option? I'm also basing it on current sales prices at Canada Computers. I mainly use my desktop for digital painting, however, having a decent card for gaming is a plus. I've survived this long with the GTS 450 so as you can tell, my gaming needs were not that high a priority ;p. I bought a new cintiq and then my screen started artifacting, which brought me to the need for a new video card.

I would go with a RX570 , but the 1050ti's are usually cheaper in Canada , in the US the price is pretty much equal most of the time.

OCZ fatality is tier 6 on this list of psu quality. Not so good.

Cheap psu units will not deliver advertised power.
I think I would use the GTX1050ti which will not need aux power.
The RX570 is a bit stronger, but it needs an 8 pin aux power which can mean using perhaps 150w more power than the GTX1050ti.

I might be a bit paranoid about this, but the danger of a cheap psu failing under load is that it can damage other parts.
