HI,i'm confused since i asked if the gtx 970 with the fx8350 are capable of handiling games on ultra on a1280*1024 resolutuin for about 2-4 years but i ecieved variable answers. Some told me that it is a very extreme overkill and i must buy something less such as the gtx 960 while others said that it is not an overkill due to the need of playing on ultra for some years.
PLEASE I WANT THE OPPINION OF EXPERTS IN GPU'S
thanks
note: don't tell me to buy an 1080 monitor since although its better but the 1280*1024 is also good

Get a GTX970; It is MASSIVE overkill for 1280x1024 but that old monitor is going to die some day and you will, almost certainly, be forced to upgrade to at least a 1080 display. You also want to keep the card for a long, long time, so the more performance you purchase now, the longer it'll last (my 3 year old HD 7950 can still play 1080 at high settings for example).
Oh, and don't forget to use the Adaptive Vsync option in the Nvidia drivers. 😉
I have a spare 1280x1024 dell monitor, an EVGA GTX 750 and an AMD FX 8350 on an ASRock board, i can tell you that even that little 750 not even a 750 Ti plays games like Battlefield 4 on Ultra Settings at 70fps, yes sounds very weird that i own that exact combo as spare parts but i would suggest an R9 270/X R9 280/X - GTX 760/770- GTX 960 to play games now at Ultra settings and for the next few years

i overclocked the snot outta of it, regardless, it wasnt every map, about half the maps did, other maps were more like 60fps and Paracel storm running about 55fps, also FX 8350 runs better in BF4 than an i5 due to thread prioritization, where BF4 will use all 8 threads of the 8350 compared to the i5's 4, also i have 16GB of 2133Mhz ram, where BF4 uses more ram than many other games, faster ram in BF4 also makes a big difference so your mileage may vary
