i have now I5 4440 and i want to get I3 8100 with new motherboard
so i want to ask if it is a good upgrade ? i have RX 480 and i play on 1080P

Solution

Yes, as long as you don't mind the limited connectivity and expandability options as Rogue pointed out.

I put a H77M motherboard in my PC thinking I'm unlikely to use PCIe slots beyond GPU. Five years later, I wished I had spent the extra $10 to get an ATX-size motherboard so I wouldn't have to pick between my 1394a card and my USB3 card for extra USB3 ports. An extra fan header or two wouldn't have hurt either.

i know but i already play on 1080p. can you recommend motherboard for i5-8400

Practically anything from the usual suspects is good enough for non-overclockable CPUs. Just pick a H3xx chipset board that suits your IO needs and cosmetic desires if applicable.

OK my friend i will buy i5-8400 but can it work good with H310M Motherboard ?

While the processor will run fine on an H310M I highly recommend against it. That board is for an office build and is severely limited in terms of expandability. Get at least a B360 or H370 board.

Ok my friend in my country i can buy Gigabyte B360M D3H with i5-8400 is that good ?
