This one got me thinking for real , my i5 6400 is capped at 2133 and i have 1 8 stick 2400 mhz
but i wanted another stick but i didn't find 2400 i found only 2666
so if i installed 2400 and 2666 ram on this cpu will make them work in dual channel ?
i mean if the cpu capped them both at 2133 why don't they run in dual channel !

Another Ques :
I5 6400 is good enough with gtx 1650 super in 2021 ?
im waiting for the 11th gen to be in the markets and maybe i'll upgrade
I felt some sttutring in games like ac origins but i think it's caused by the lack of ram ( only 8 gb ) so adding one more stick will help ? or it's caused by my cpu ?\

Thanks !

Yes, if given you beat the 50:50 odds of mixing RAMs and getting both working AND if your MoBo has 4 RAM slots, you've put the RAM in 2nd and 4th slots from CPU socket. If your MoBo only has 2 RAM slots then latter doesn't matter and you'll get dual-channel either way.

Though, do note that IF you get both of your RAM sticks working, they'll work at 2133 Mhz speeds (or 2400 Mhz if your MoBo supports that).

I5 6400 is good enough with gtx 1650 super in 2021 ?

For 1080p gaming? It does fine. But you may not be able to play at max/ultra settings.

E.g i have i5-6600K + GTX 1660 Ti (Skylake build, full specs with pics in my sig) and i...

some sttutring

Could be game issue. Could be lack of RAM. Could be bloatware in your system. It's hard to tell what causes game stutter.

Thanks man ! i think my mobo does support 2400 ram im using h110m but i don't know why when i open task manager it shows im running at 2133 ( i think it's a cpu cap )
and yes my motherboard have 2 ram slots , so i guess i'll get dual channel anyways like you said ?

im using h110m

What's your MoBo make and model? Since if i get that, i can tell exactly which RAM speeds it supports.

i think it's a cpu cap

No.

While CPU may use RAM speed up to 2133 Mhz, the rest of the build uses it according to the MoBo support and RAM sticks frequency.

For example, i have Kingston Savage RAM, where all 4 RAM slots are populated and my RAM is running at 3000 Mhz because my RAM is rated for 3000 Mhz. And since i also have Z-series MoBo (MSI Z170A Gaming M5), it can support RAM speeds up to 3600 Mhz,
my MoBo specs: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z170A-GAMING-M5/Specification

But buying faster than 3000 Mhz RAM isn't cost effective.

With an H110 chipset motherboard, you will be capped at your i5-6400's max ram speed of 2133, but otherwise assuming the modules work together, you should be fine to mix them. You won't know if they work until you install the ram, so make sure you can return the ram before you buy it.
