I picked up a used rig with a Supermicro C7Z370-CG-IW mobo and a 6c/12t CPU that shows up as Intel CPU 0000 in Windows, CPU-Z and BIOS, but in BIOS it lists the CPU's ID as 0x906EA. A quick Google search returned a lot of hackintosh results which suggests the CPU is actually a i7-8700K. Since the 8700K is 6c/12t I figured case closed, but then I saw that this CPU is explicitly listed as not supported on Supermicro's support page for the mobo, yet it technically boots and runs. I also noticed the CPU is listed as 2.9 GHz (in Windows, CPU-Z & BIOS) instead of 3.7 GHz, which the 8700K is, so I'm not sure what to think. I'm not sure when I'll have time to dismantle this rig and verify what the CPU actually is, but curiosity is killing me in the meantime... Any idea what this CPU is?
