There is a lot going on about this kernel bug and I'm planning on building a new PC and I wanna know if buying an Intel CPU is worth it (G4560), if I should go for AMD or if I would go for Intel wait a bit... I don't know.
Your help will be appreciated

THANK YOU

The bug only hobbles chips that handle large workloads and you will not see a drecrease in gaming. Things like cloud servers are being hit the most.

They’re still awesome gaming chips. You just need to decide what’s right for you

Dual-cores (especially hyperthreaded ones) are fine for most basic productivity, web browsing, and office workloads. My work computer is an ULV 2-core laptop and it does just fine for anything I really ask of it.

If gaming, video editing, or other things are intended for your new build, something like an i3-8100 or Ryzen 3/5 becomes a better buy.

But I don't play very heavy AAA titles. At the moment I'm not playing any AAA game at all. But I saw benchmarks and it's good at gaming with at least Medium settings paired with a GTX 1050Ti. And I want that beacause I want a budget build. :D

I know but my privacy, safety and stuff... ?

Yes, but it's a hyperthreaded CPU and because I saw benchmarks and it still runs well with at least Medium settings.

I know exactly what I'm going to use it for and looking for. :D Don't worry. I am not a demanding gamer. I just want my privacy and my safety to be "safe" :) Thank you though

Not to worry.
Most viruses enter via social engineering ports.(you open a unknown file or link, or you visit sketchy web sites)
The fixes seem to not impact normal user experiences on either intel or amd chips.

For gaming, the G4560 has become known as a great budget gaming chip.
unfortunately, the price is inflated from the intel launch price of $64.
You might be able to find a G4600 for not much more.
A plus of the G4600 is the excellent HD630 graphics.
You can see how it does before you decide on your graphics card.

Hyperthreading in games, doesn't get you very far. Ryzen 3 1200 can be had for $100, cheaper if you live near a microcenter and you bundle it with a motherboard, and it leaves you with an actual upgrade path. That intel CPU sits in a dead socket.

What have you read that leads you to think:

1. There is a privacy and safety issue?
2. That it won't be patched, for both new chips and those already sold.

Id have to second going amd on this.

The am4 socket they use is going to be around for the next few years we think. So you can buy a ryzen 3 now, then a ryzen 2 in the future if you are so inclined.

Plus 4 physical cores is going to fair better in the future than 2 cores and hyper threading,

I know budget is a consideration but you might want to look for a used gtx 980 or 980ti as both of those cards perform better gtx 1050ti

You think AMD is immune?

Well, the general direction of this thread revolved around the bug notification, and whether it was still wise to go with Intel in light of that.
Not whether Intel or AMD was a better processor, or the potential upgrade path.

OP states " and I wanna know if buying an Intel CPU is worth it"

Right.
"There is a lot going on about this kernel bug and I'm planning on building a new PC and I wanna know if buying an Intel CPU is worth it "

"Regarding the recent info about Intel and the exploits, is it worth it to buy an Intel CPU?"
Not whether an AMD has a better upgrade path or whatever.

That's the way I read it anyway.

I understand, don't really see this bug thing being a big deal, considering how wide spread it is. Worth it comes down to price and performance, even after the small percentage of performance hit. Still can't see that g4560 being worth it in the long run compared to other options.

Right.
There are other, better paths to follow vs the G4560.
Ryzen or 8th gen Intel.

Forget the Bugs. The G4560 is a 2 core processor in a 4 core world. IF you intend to game with it on serious gaems (anything AA in the last three years) you need a GPU anyways. That means the price difference to a starter Ryzen build is only about $30 - $40. Just buy the Ryzen. Only go G4560 if you are looking for an HTPC to watch movies and Netflix on.

To be clear, I like the G4560. It is the cheapest CPU that can game. I built one for my Nephew back in April. The problem is it's already showing its age and frame rates are dropping (Especially in multitasking). It's also on a dead end platform now (there will be no new Kaby Lake processors) so you can upgrade as high as a 7700K and no further whereas with Ryzen they are going to work for at least two more generations of CPU and even the cheapest board already works with 8 core 16 thread CPUs if you ever need to upgrade.

G4560 is a cool piece of tech but just like the G3258 has no staying power. Seriously save another $40 and get an R3...or better yet save $120 more and get an R5 1600. That will e good for a long time.

im with this guy. Get yourself a 4 core at least, the ryzen3-1200 isa great budget CPU, and if you can getyourself a half decent motherboard, you can OC it to nearly 4Ghz with the stock cooler.

As far as this Patch stuff and what not/ issues. The problem was there before, and it will still be around. You just know about it. It would seem that you've been browsing 9gag a little too much lol... the biggest slowdowns due to the patch will diminish with time, even intel said it themselves, the first response is always a little unrefined, but give it time and it won't be a big deal.

Just to add an answer to a previous question, AMD reported that they do not have the same vulnerability that intel and ARM have.

More info about the fix, on intel processors I heard reports of a 30% change in performance but I think that is exaggerated or maybe mitigated on chips with a higher core count. In game though, you're not going to see much of a difference in fps because of the patch. 2-4 frames per second maybe as most of game rendering is done by your graphics card.
