i have a issue, i am getting everything i need for my computer, but the gpu, as i dont have the money for that YET. My question is, until i get a dedicated gpu can i still run basic games like terraria, web browsing etc? -i will be getting gpu as soon as i can afford one.

What gpu should i get on a $350 budget (i dont want amd/nividia fanboys, i want actual studies for the situations in which this gpu is used)

Also big question, i plan on spending 300-350 on a gpu, so i'm looking into r9-390 or the gtx 970. i plan on playing games such as the well known gta-v and a lot of video editing. I also want to play games like COD Cities:skylines and more heavy duty games ONCE i get the gpu. Note i will be playing NONE of these games on the intel integrated graphics. My question is for the circumstances give, 390 or 970, as the main differences is vram, should i get the additional 4.5 gigs of vram for cideo editing and longer draw distances with my gpu, or will the 3.5 (plus lower .5 speed of gpu)gigs of the 970 be fine for my tasks??

Yes intel graphics is enough for lower end titles. I play Minecraft on my i5- 4200U at 120FPS, so terraria should run fine on hd graphics.

As long as your PSU is sufficient to handle the 390, I would get it. For CUDA accelerated video editing the GTX 970 will be faster (because it has CUDA cores vs. Stream processors), but other than that the 390 should do better in that as well because of its larger amount of vRAM. You can easily go over 3.5 (even 4) gb of vRAM on certain titles as well. I'm not an AMD fanboy, I just want people to get the best GPU possible. For example, if someone is looking at getting a 390x, I would recommend that they spend the extra $50-100 on a GTX 980, as the 390x was kind of a flop as it increases FPS by...

I personally don't care which brand you use. If you really want to get a 970 (Reasons for this would be shadowplay and CUDA accel. video editing) I won't mind. It's all about what you want, and that's the beauty of building your own computer. Sorry for going on a bit of a rant.

Yes, you can use the Intel HD graphics. It's not good, but it will work for web browsing.

With those two graphics cards, I would say they are about as good. So maybe you should the one you found for a cheaper price when you have the money. I think the vram isn't that important in video editing, but I could be wrong.

i dont intend on heavy video editing, and to come and think of it i willo be useing my imac for video editing anyways so it looks like ima go with the r9-390, thank you all very much for the help!

and im not worried about my psu, my 750 watt psu should do the work, adn i dont intend on OCing
