its a 5400RPM drive so it's going to be slow. its hard to tell because you have not mentioned what HDD you have in your new computer

I would go to WD site and download some diagnostic tools to test it. (if fails in the USB enclosure put in a case and test to see if the enclosure is bad or not)

Also look carefully at customer feedback for USB enclosures as many of the cheaper ones fail or just suck in general.

Since it's probably a storage or backup drive performance probably doesn't matter much.

using it for storage is one thing but running games off a drive that slow may not cut it

No, i know there is plenty more wich are way better but i can't afford a hdd, juste thé case
