Is it actually possible anymore to find a monitor that doesn't have a flaw ? I have tried 2 LCD/LED monitors and even purchased a new LCD tv, 40LE550 by Samsung, to only find it has a flaw. I never had this problem with CRT monitors or plasma tvs. All I am trying to do is get a darn monitor that views video properly with no choppy crap, has good blacks and whites and will play pc games on it without ghosting.

I have looked at both expensive and cheap monitors and you always see a flaw mentioned. Heck I just looked at a new IPS monitor from Asus that was $700 or so and it had great colors but for gaming of course it had it's problems being IPS. I am now looking at ASUS VS247H-P which will be under $120 in a few days which is very affordable and I have seen many people satisfied with it but then I find comments on this monitor and this series related to ghosting.

What the heck should I be buying right now ? Also I have seen articles say if you are picky or notice things more than others well let me say any idiot can notice ghosting and choppy crap going on that is the fault of the monitor. I should not have to accept this kind of thing. Are monitors just a crap shoot now ?

what problems? the only thing ips lacks is 120hz capability. considering that it has far superior color reproduction and a wide viewing angle and tn panels are almost laughable.

our family owns 3 laptops with tn panels, 1 led tv, 1 lcd tv, 1 crt monitor and 2 ips monitors and not one of these products (ranging from 2-9 years old) has an issue. i dont see how you seem to have this much trouble to call the whole market a crap shoot.

realize a few factors:

plasma has the best contrast ratios. ccfl and led backlit panels are about equal with one another.

120hz tvs will result in a delay when used with pcs due to the post processing since they only accept a 60hz source and fake in frames. 60hz mode on some tvs can fix this.

only tn panels on monitors are 60hz or 120hz. all others are 60hz.

tn panels have the worst viewing angle while e-ips is wider and s/p/h-ips is almost 180 degrees.

tn panels have a faster response time. keep in mind though that even my 16ms monitor doesnt ghost. if a panel is rated at 6-8ms like most panels seem to be (non tn panels) it should be more than fast enough to not ghost. remember not to confuse ghosting or chopping with the limitations of 60hz over 120hz.

it seems like you should be in the market for a 120hz tn panel. this will give you the smooth video and fast response time you want. however, realize that 6bit colors are *** and that tn panels have a rather poor viewing angle. this is a limitation of panel technology.

also realize that cheap led panels use blue/purple leds coated with white phosphorus which can give a blue/purple hue. more expensive models use true white leds which do not suffer from this.

as far as my personal choice? nothing short of s-ips (8bit) from a major brand such as viewsonic or even the new dell ips. sure they are only 60hz and slightly slower but ive used similar panels for years on even the fastest paced games without issue.

just a few suggestions. read it or ignore it, but do realize that the market as a whole isn't a problem.
