Hi! I'm new to the Tom's Hardware community and the main reason I joined is to find some help from more experienced people. And what better place is than this?! ( If there is than pls. don't be hating, newb here :p)

I recently got some money and I have decided to by some components for my PC. But I'm not that sure is my configuration all that good. My main goal is to test my new rig (which would be a first "strong" config that I own) in gaming and later in over clocking.
So this is the stuff I plan to buy (btw. buying it via NewEgg):

-MSI GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5
-Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150
-MSI Z97 GAMING 5 LGA 1150
-Kingston SSDNow V300 Series SV300S37A/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal SSD
-Fractal Desing CORE 2300 chassis or COOLER MASTER Midi Tower N400 NSE-400-KKN1
-CHIEFTEC GPS-700A8 700W Smart series
(I already have some RAM 2x4GB DDR3 1066MHz, It's old but it'll work for now and I also possess Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive)

That's about it :). I would like to read your opinions on this. After all this is my first config and first time I'm spending this amount of money on tech... And I would really like to hear your opinion on my GPU and CPU.

Also sorry if I made some mistakes in spelling. Engish is not my first language and I apologise if it is offencive to you. :)

I agree on the i5-4690k, you don't need anything more for gaming, use the extra cash to get some DDR3-1600 RAM. And I don't see an aftermarket cooler, were you planning to OC the i7 on the stock fan? Bad idea. If you want to OC get a better cooler, otherwise you might as well get an i5-4460 and save some money.

A 120gb SSD will work if you use a utility like steammover to move games from SSD to HDD and back when gaming, but a 256gb is a lot nicer.

Definitely change the PSU, too much power . 550w is plenty for an i5 and a GTX 970, unless you plan on doing SLI down the road. XFX has a 550w gold PSU that is priced well, it's a Seasonic OEM. The Chieftec name isn't big in the US, but I'm guessing you're in EU because it's a 230v PSU...

First of all, what's your budget? That's important to know what's the best you can get. It's decent, but can definitely be improved.

For gaming you don't need a 4790k, go with the i5 4690k instead. With the $$ saves from that, get a 240GB or 256GB SSD. That way if you have any large games you can store them on there for faster loading times.

I've never heard of that PSU brand before, I'd personally go with something a little more well-known. Try a Corsair, EVGA, or SeaSonic PSU, they're all very good. You also won't need 700w for that system, you can bring that down a bit. Try get something modular and has a 80+ Gold efficiency rating.

Another thing to keep in mind when budgeting is your operating system, which will usually cost around $100.

Hope this helped you!!

Michael

*EDIT* After seeing the next post, I realized you forgot a CPU cooler. I would recommend getting a Hyper 212 EVO from Cooler Master, or something better if you can afford it. This cooler is a great bang for the buck cooler, being able to keep my FX 8350 at 45 degrees under load. I'm not great with coolers, so if you can afford more I can't help you there.

Thanks for quick reply guys.

-My budget is around €800 which is around $888
-I planed to buy SSD for my OS, oh and I already have Windows 7 PRO soo that's like what €100 of my back?!
-You mentioned loading times in gaming would improve with them installed on SSD, but if I put them on HDD will it hinder any performance?
-I choose i7 while thinking of not buying any new CPU in next.... well in a long time.
-I plan to OverClock in a couple of years, after I get some experience on my friends old PC 3:).
And I will get better cooler, Hyper 212 EVO looks pretty nice for the buck :)
-Also, I'm not sure that I would go for the SLI option with 970, I'm more of a Single GPU Guy
-And I already have 550w PSU by, again, Chieftec.
-And at last, I'm from Europe so what I'm about to do is a one time deal only (buying components like i7 or GTX 970). I plan to ship it to Netherlands, because I'll be going there for a week, and then I would return to my "homeland" where the price of GTX 970 is €550+ instead of like €315 that I found on NewEgg :/. I hate my "k"ontry...
I won't get this amount of money any time soon, so this is like a 10year setup. That's why I went for i7, thinking in my head that I probably won't be getting it any time soon after this.. And the i7-4790k price in my country is €560 0.o and on NewEgg is €300... So price difference is something too keep in mind.
That's it moving to US as soon as I can.. xD
