Is it logical to switch from a 29' 1080p ultrawide monitor to a 27' 1440p monitor?

My specs -

i5 4570K (no OC but might)
Asus z97 i plus mobo
16 GB Ram
GTX 980 SC
128 GB SSD, 3 TB HDD

Currently, I game on a 2560X1080 widescreen AOC monitor and I love it. At first, it was weird but now I am addicted to it. The only issue is that not every game supports this resolution. However, I got this brand new 980 SC and I don't think 1080p is giving it what it deserves.

I can't get one of those 1440p ultrawidescreens as they are ridicilously expensive right now, a 27 inch ASUS 1440p retails for $400 though, so I can sell mine for $250-300 and get that. Do you think it would be worth it or would I be banging my head on the wall? :)

Thanks, everyone.

I think you are probably best to stay with what you have for right now. This is just how I personally feel however, with 4k being available and working its way down in price, I just wouldn't personally want to buy anything else. This is partially just because I expect 4K to hang around for a long time, just like 1920x1080p has stuck around for several years now as being the best thing and is only last year and this year getting to be the norm and not something so special.

With the pressures of running a 4K display, I think it will probably stay as the biggest and best thing for 6 years or so while graphics cards work their way up, because currently only the fastest GPUs like the GTX 980 can handle 4K gaming and really stay around or above 30FPS.
