[SOLVED] Is it Necessary to backup a hard drive for CPU change?

I'm very wary about my data, but I am also serious about what I spend on. If I were to change my CPU, its cooler, and add another 8gb stick of RAM, would I need to buy a 1tb external hard drive to back up my data, or will no data be lost at all?

Always backup your important data.

You should have a backup routine for any important data. You never know when a HDD failure can occur. Also keep a copy of the backup off-site. A fire can take out your HDD, and any existing backup

I hear you saying your data is not important enough to spend on a back up drive.

Changing CPU, RAM etc should not damage anything, but as long as u don't have backups, don't come crying when things fails.

You should have a full recoverable backup anytime you turn the PC on.
Or when it is off.
Or on days ending in Y.
