Is it normal to be having the same issues with all these games?

I have a decently high-end system, a 4930k, EVGA GTX 980 SC, 4x4 GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport RAM, a Samsung 850 Pro, all on a Asus P9X79LE board. My cooling seems to be pretty efficient and I get 25-30 degrees while idle and no higher than 50 at full load. However all the games I play, Assassins Creed: Unity Battlefield 4, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, even older games like Medieval 2, seem to always unexpectly shut down during a session, sometimes after a few minutes or other times after hours of otherwise smooth gameplay. It's not a BSOD, just the game shutting down and sending me back to the desktop, usually with the error message. All BIOS settings have been set to default, I don't tweak anything with GPU; hell I even unistalled Afterburner completely. I've done a clean re-install of the Display Driver and each game atleast twice. I did install my Windows 7 with a flash drive and chose to use the 30 day trial period before paying for a code, and would not be totally suprised if that had any connection to the issue. I've had an inferior system in the past(4770k, GTX 780) but on Windows 8 and I definitely did not have these issues and I played most of the same games. My system runs flawlessly whenever I'm doing schoolwork or other tasks, so I like to think it's something related to the graphics side. I'm really amxious to hear if any other of you guys have had these issues in these games or maybe just have some ideas on what could be going wrong. I will add that Shadow of Mordor was the first game I played after piecing everything together and it was just about perfect, I played for hours on end with the settings cranked up and saw 60 fps throughout. I really don't push my system too much which makes me even more suprised when I consistently have these games closing out on me. I appreciate any help in Advance!

Have u stress tested the system?

running cpu stressing apps (prime95) and gpu stressing apps (heaven/valley/kombustor/etc) at same time and monitor the temp and look for error/glitch..
for couple hours (longer is better)

also run memtest...
