Is it OK to install graphics cadrs next to each other if there are fans blowing in the gaps between?

Hi All

I'm planning to build a computer with four 2-slot graphics cards. Installing them right next to each other would leave a minimal gap between them, which is of course unacceptable. The cards can't work normally like that no question about it. However I thought if I install an array of high performance fans on top of the cards so they blow into the gaps between them would that make it OK?

The point is to fit the system in a normal case rather than making a rig and using extension cables. Also I might use the system for deep learning in the future so those PCI-E 16x connections would be a must in such a use case.

Thanks in advance :)

You can, but I'd recommend then using rear blower cards instead of the multi-fan design. I'd also monitor temps regularly. If need be, I'd also suggest replacing them thermal paste on them with Grizzly Kryonaut(best quality).
