is it okay to leave the back panel off?

so im building my very first pc today and the instructions i was following said to wire everything through the back of the case to keep the front clear to help with airflow, but when i do that theres not enough room for the back cover to fit. i can pull the guts back to the front but then it gets very cluttered. i keep my desktop on a counter for now and the back part would be facing a wall if that changes anything.

What case?

And no you really don't want to leave the case open as dust and other assorted things can get in there.

And it will seriously mess with the positive airflow.

It is true that cases have an airflow, but really unless you have a nice case, removing the back-panel won't do anything airflow wise.
