sorry this is kind of a new concept to me but i will be traveling and living out of my car for the next week, is it possible to access the internet provided i have an ISP using a generator to power and connect to a wifi internet for a laptop?

Yes you can and like USAFRet asked who and how will you be connecting to the internet.

My son and I did just what your asking on a road trip from California to Tennessee. We used a power inverter and not a generator. Wifi on the road while driving we used my cell phone as a hot spot. When resting the hotel and or like already mentioned Starbucks.

i feel like this is a sincerely stupid question but lets say i have a generator and get a wireless modem and pay for my own internet service provider.... is this even possible? im like super novice when it comes to technology. i dont even know how to google this information properly. like im basically trying to create an internet connection in my car that my laptop can connect to. but i guess something else?? i dont even know if a wireless modem is what i think it is.... seriously not a very techy person.. i work in manual labour trades

The power source for the laptop is irrelevant.
Internal battery, 12v -> 110v inverter in the car, generator, whatever...

Your real question is how to connect to the internet.

Do you have a cell phone?
That can often be used as a hotspot, and the laptop connects through that.

Hotspot:
Phone connects to 'the internet'.
Laptop connects through the phone.

Done.

If you have the money there always starlink. People with RV use this all the time. It works in areas where you can not even get a cell signal. Using a cellphone to provide internet to your laptop is the much more common method. It should be fast enough most things. Be aware some cell plans artificially limit the speed when you run hotspot to your laptop and many have data caps for "tethered" traffic. I was reading the fine print on a plan that claims unlimited talk/text/data and hotspot usage for $25 per month. In the fine print it says hotspot data rates were limited to 5mbps. That means it will be very hard to watch any type of video streaming service.
