I'm ancient, but I've been able to do Windows searches very well many decades. Until now. Apparently, recently there was a Windows update that is working my last good nerve. (My Windows version is 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3570).

I used to be able to search for something and actually find it quickly and easily. Now, I have to use a new search feature that apparently searches for the CONTENTS of what if the file I'm searching for, instead of just searching for the TITLE of the file that I specifically want. For example, I search for Music List and instead of getting a short list of hits, I get a zillion of them. Yesterday I did one search that should have found maybe 5 or 6 hits, but it got HUNDREDS. FWIW, putting the search in quotes does not fix the problem.

I'm not very good at explaining things, so if this doesn't make sense, let me know.

I want my old search back. I want to be able to search and get what I'm looking for and not a zillion things that Windows thinks I need.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks!!! I'm not entirely sure I did it the right way -- interfering husband insisted on doing some index (?) thing. But he accidently cut it off before the indexing was done.

And I still have to search through that thing at has 2 sections you have to fill in to search. I'd really prefer to have the easy search thing I had months ago before the new confusing one. I think the search thing was in the lower left of the screen.

Anyway, the search is workable now, so I'm grateful for that. Thanks again for your help.
