Is it possible to have 2 OS's (Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04) share an SSD and HDD?

I want to dual boot two OS's on my laptop, which has a 256GB NVME drive and a 2TB 2.5 inch HDD. Unfortunately due to the size of the laptop, (a Dell Inspiron 7000 with only room for the drives mentioned earlier) I can't just use two SSD's and HDD's. I was wondering if it's possible to partition about 100GB for each OS on the SSD and then 1TB for each OS on the HDD that each OS could use separately. If not, are there possible storage solutions for someone using a laptop such as mine?

You can certainly configure your laptop to boot alternate OS and yes you can make your hdd shared in part or in full.

Do you really need to run both operating systems natively or could you use some thing like VMWare, Virtualbox etc to run the other OS as a virtual machine?

If you don't need to run native then a virtual machine solution would be safest and easiest. That way you can have multiple versions of windows and linux. You will also be able to fully optimize your disk usage as each VM just looks like a big file to your native OS.

SO have a look at VMPlayer or VirtualBox, both are free. You will be able to run a Linux machine as awindow in your laptop, you can even make it full screen.

But the answer to your question is, yes...
