I have an old tower with an extremely outdated mobo so replacing processors is tricky. Wanted to upgrade my graphics at least with an additional 1060 6GB card if possible. Is this a thing?

GTX 1060 doesn't support SLI.

But you can install additional graphics cards to connect more monitors.

Why SLI? SLI hasn't been a thing for years now and no current titles even support it. And, as said above the 1060 doesn't support it anyway.

Not only does the GTX 1060 not support SLI/NVLink, your motherboard must also support it.

SLI/CF has been superseded by DX12 explicit multi-GPU, though that feature has been implemented in approximately zero games.

Yeah, multi-GPU is effectively dead for most intents and purposes.
