Question Is it possible to power a closed loop externally?

It might be a dumb idea, but could i hook it to a power supply and control of some sort? Im trying to see if i can build a custom laptop cooling pad using a scrap cooler.

I don't see why not. Just need to hook up the right voltage. If the input demands a PWM signal you should be able to put voltage on that pin as well, and it will run at full speed.

So a 12V wall wort would be good enough. Probably going to be loud though. You could try running it with a 9V supply as well and see if that is enough to make the pump spin.
