Is it possible to recover lost/deleted files from android phone??

Exactly what the title says.

Is there an actual way or is it all bull**** [censored]?

I just downloaded a program named remo recover but it wants me to enable mass storage on my xperia sp and it doesn't have that option since it is jelly bean 4.3.

Is there a way to still recover files??

If your phone supports an external SD card, and if some files are on this memory card, then remove the card from the phone and use a pc card reader and hook up to a pc and recover the files via windows using something like RECUVA which is a free recovery software.
