[SOLVED] Is it possible to use a larger-sized display with similar resolution & connector pins, on a small-sized display notebook?

I have a 14." notebook, which has a cracked screen. The notebook has a magnesium alloy body, and works fine. As it is a >10 year old notebook, it's rather difficult to find a replacement screen, and even if I could find one, it's probably uneconomical to buy and replace.

By chance, I came upon a larger (15.4") display, with similar resolution and connector pins, as the 14." display.

My question is: aside from the different size hinges and lid, since the connector pins are similar in number, and screen resolution is similar, if I transplant the larger into the smaller, can it work?

At the moment, I am not too concerned about aesthetics, nor the different hinge size, yet. I just need to know if it is likely to work or not? Thanks

Quite unlikely to work as "pins are similar in number" does not equal same signals on the same pins, especially on a 10+ year old unit.
