Question Is it safe for me to convert my hard drive from MBR to GPT ?

I got my 3tb hard drive a while ago and noticed that it only used 2 tb of the full hard drive. I did some digging around and saw that you can only use 3 tb hard drives when it is GPT. Will this solve my problem? And is it safe?

Converting the partition scheme from MBR to GPT is safe. Backup all your data onto another hard drive before doing so.

Is the reason why my 3TB hard drive only lets me use 2TB because of the MBT? Should converting it to GPT make me able to use and extend the hard drive to its full storage?

Yes with MBR the maximum storage space that can be addressed is 2TB.

You can convert but make sure to make a backup on a separate medium (hard drive etc.) before you attempt to convert to GPT.
