With the pc running and the tv still showing movie. Is it safe to just off the uk main power? I've been seeing my dad doing that and not sure if I should stop him. Any data loss is fine, what im concern with is whether this act has a big impact on their lifespan.

He would be much better off to just set the power button on the system to shut down or even hibernate. Once the system is off or hibernating, the main power can be shut off without any issues.

While it generally does not cause issues, you just need to have the system working on something critical to running when the power goes off to cause lots of headaches.

It should not hurt the TV. It still only takes like seconds to shut the TV off :)

Only projectors with hot lamps do not like a sudden power cut because the cooling fan normally runs to cool it for a bit even after you shut down. No power means no cooling fan and thus trapped heat.
