i have a xeon 1231v3 and a asrock h81m-hds and under load the temperatures reach about 122F. my cpu is at 3.40ghz and my mobo will allow me to overclock it to 3.8ghz. is it safe to overclock it to 3.8ghz? i have a 500w evga psu and a 750ti

Solution

Correct. Pretty much anytime a CPU gets to load it will automatically use the turbo frequency, which is already 3.8Ghz in your case. :)
yes you can overclock it to 3.8 but if you're scared you may wanna check some videos or see some tips about overclocking a computer with your specs, because if you mess around with the Voltage you may fry your Computer
ps. i'm no expert i'm just sharing what i read when i was trying to overclock mine

so basically what your saying is that if an application is very demanding it will just boost up to 3.8ghz anyway?
