Question Is it safe to power on mobo with CPU power disconnected?

Trying to do Q-flash + on my mobo, but CPU and aio are already installed. Am I able to just disconnect CPU power from the mobo and Q-flash+ without harming the CPU?

Q-flash + is supposed to be done without CPU, RAM, SSD, etc. So I'm wondering if not connecting the CPU power would replicate that, without having to uninstall the CPU entirely

I would not think so.

No, you need to have all power on MB to use Q-flash. Those "CPU power" connectors are not just for CPU.

Which motherboard is it?

My Asus board updates BIOS with Q-Flash while the CPU is installed...I've done it twice already. The same is true for my MSI motherboard and it's BIOS Flash-Back feature.

Be sure to read the instructions carefully: is it saying the CPU must be out? or is it saying it may be out?
