[SOLVED] Is it safe to rest a surge or power strip on top of the tower?

I have a coworker who keeps putting a surge protector on top of the pc tower. I'm worried about physical damage to the components. No the pc is not plugged into the same surge protector.

I don't see a surge protector sitting on top of a tower causing any problem.
