I want to shorten my SATA extension , it's much too long.

Is it ok to splice the wires and rig it back together like any other electrical cables?

Last thing I want to do is ruin my SSD...!

Tumden,
ahem, you need to pay closer attention to the wires.

Bruno,
The far right end, electrically (the red, amber/yellow and black wires), you're good to splice and shorten/lengthen. The far left end, which is the data cable, you're out of luck mate. Unless ofc you're proficient with wiring diagrams and what not.

Yikes, simple answer is no... It's a terrible idea to mess with electrical components inside a computer. You could ruin a lot more then just your SSD by doing so, a simple short could fry your whole system.
