[SOLVED] Is it safe to use it?

Hi
My pc keep shutting down while gaming
i cleaned the power supply and yesterday i noticed a burning smell coming from the psu
i only use my pc for desktop work like browsing internet or studying
My configue
AMD FX 6300
GTX 960
8 GB RAM
MSI MOTHERBOARD
KCAS 500W

Is it safe to use it?
what can happen in the worst scenario?

If you are sure that the problem is from the PSU.
Then stop using the PC.

There might be something is wrong with the PSU.
Probably has failed.

If you continue using it, it might really damage your PC.

Since you don't do much intense GPU work, I'm guessing you have not overclocked too, right?


Use a flashlight to check through PSU holes when you've removed the PSU from its case.

Check for signs of blown or burnt components, etc.
Any signs of damage at all.

However, DO NOT open up the PSU itself.
It can't be repaired
