Is it worth buying a notebook with Pentium 2020m rather than i3-4030u?

Hello guys. I face a tough decision, regarding the purchase of a laptop for my girlfriend. She's into surfing web, watching movies and pretty much everything that requires high battery life, medium performance and no type of stand-alone GPU, so the problem will be choosing the best CPU for the laptop in my desired price range.

I looked at comparing Pentium 2020m and i3-4030u but it seems, in case of the i3, that I only pay more for the same thing. The Pentium, even if it's almost 2 years old, seems to be just as powerful as the i3, in specs, even without HT, because it has significantly more power to give. It seems that even the GPU is more powerful in the Pentium 2020m, as ark.intel.com would suggest.

The only difference is the AVX technology support, which the 2020m does not have, so I ask you if it makes that much of a difference and could be a factor to not consider it?

As I haven't been able to see these CPU's in any laptop, I ask you to tell me if there's anything I should watch out for because I'm very inclined into purchasing the notebook with 2020m since I've found an excelent bargain, rather than the i3-4030u which is 40% more expensive in any other notebook.

Thank you, in advance, for your replies.

if she only needs it for surfing, then get the pentium. if the i3 cost really that much more and has the same performence for the things required, then get the cheaper pentium one.

I know real life usage is a bit different rather than checking some scores and if I simply want to know if there is a significant difference in performance, like if she could play Hearthstone, watch Full HD movies, multi-task without hicups.

Even if the price seems like more for the same thing, I'm asking the community, because others may have used these devices and/or faced their limitations/problems.

I wouldn't mind buying the i3-4030u, but only if I can figure out I get more for the money.

i can say that the i3 mobile cpu is pretty good for multitasking as i have a laptop with a similar i3 4005u, the laptop is super small and i generally use it for work and general use. and i havent had any problem with it, it runs super quiet, runs pretty cool and dosent overheat at all. so id say if the money is not an issue with you then go with the i3, as its probably gonna last longer.
