Hello guys. I face a tough decision, regarding the purchase of a laptop for my girlfriend. She's into surfing web, watching movies and pretty much everything that requires high battery life, medium performance and no type of stand-alone GPU, so the problem will be choosing the best CPU for the laptop in my desired price range.
I looked at comparing Pentium 2020m and i3-4030u but it seems, in case of the i3, that I only pay more for the same thing. The Pentium, even if it's almost 2 years old, seems to be just as powerful as the i3, in specs, even without HT, because it has significantly more power to give. It seems that even the GPU is more powerful in the Pentium 2020m, as ark.intel.com would suggest.
The only difference is the AVX technology support, which the 2020m does not have, so I ask you if it makes that much of a difference and could be a factor to not consider it?
As I haven't been able to see these CPU's in any laptop, I ask you to tell me if there's anything I should watch out for because I'm very inclined into purchasing the notebook with 2020m since I've found an excelent bargain, rather than the i3-4030u which is 40% more expensive in any other notebook.
Thank you, in advance, for your replies.
