I want to get a pc for programming and gaming, however my budget is small. I've noticed old xeon workstations such as the dell t3500 and the HP XW8400 gor for like £150 on ebay, combined with a 1050 or something, would that make a decent budget gaming pc? i'm not looking for ultra settings or whatever. I was also looking at dell optiplexes, but they have weak psu's

When I upgraded the graphics card on my Precision T1600, it turned into a power supply upgrade. My gut says this is very, very common. 235 watts is not enough.

The case is very, very custom, with special numbered lights for troubleshooting. The motherboard is tightly coupled to the case, I bet. Another potential problem area.

The cable that powers the video card sticks out too much. I'm going to try and fix that with a Startech cable that looks a lot more bendable than the one I've got.

In short, if you are adventurous, why not? Me, I'd look at Tom's $500 best build.
