Is it worth getting the i7-6800k/6850k over the i7-6700k?

In terms of price scaling, you get what you pay for. Or do you?

User benchmark shows the i7-6800k performing worse than the i7-6700k/5930k. CPU benchmark shows the 6850k doing very, VERY marginally better than a 6800k.

Not only that, a 2011v3 socketed motherboard costs at least double a standard 1151 pin motherboard. In terms of situation, there is no way I can afford a 6900k/6950x so the above are my only options.

Solution
Not really. WiFi is available on either top end boards with all the bells and whistles, or boards intended for Small Form Factor systems based on mITX. These small boards support less memory and a bit less overclocking.

is a...
Go with the 6700K

Its a beast of a cpu for gaming and rendering.

The other chips are not worth the cost

Plus most software and games will be more catered towards the 6700k outside of the professional field

Standard 1440p videos I'm hoping for in After Effects/Premiere. If it were 1080p I would've gone with the 6700K but I'm trying to make this PC last for a long time.

You have yet to tell us where you live, so maybe your prices are different.

To build a good rendering system, no matter what CPU, you need a good fast SSD, and I would choose nVME, a decent CPU cooler to handle your overclock, a good CUDA GPU for a bit more grunt, and a decent power supply to run it all and plenty of fast RAM. Since all of these are identical, I'm leaving them out of the calculation (RAM is a slight exception, but I'm keeping things simple.)

I've gone for the older CPU for price/performance reasons. It will likely overclock better than a Broadwell-E and that will cancel some of the lower IPC. I can live with 5% slower for that much cheaper.

25% more throughput for 25% more money, give or take a bit.

Cheers for the suggestions. I'm in Australia. Why a 5820k? I'm happy to go for the 6800k over it as it's price isn't much higher. Also, is there a reason you've gone with 4 x 4GB over 2 x 8 GB RAM? I'd like to hopefully expand to 32GB in the future so have planned for 2 x 8GB.

4 x 4 is faster. The motherboard has eight slots, so you can get to 32Gb.
5820K is almost as fast. can be overclocked better, and costs about 8% less for maybe 2% lower performance, and may be better performance..

25% more power, and only 20% (or 28%) more expensive.
