Is it worth having Hyperthreading enabled?

I found that a few of my games will only work with Hyperthreading disabled. If I do that, will it have much of a performance hit on my other programs and games?

DON'T Disable HT in the BIOS. If a you want a certain program not to use HT then while the program is running press Alt+Ctrl+Del to bring up Task Manager. Under the Processes tab right click on the program and select Set Affinity. Only check the box next to CPU0. Now that program won't use HT.

That's a great sounding solution, where did you find it?

hum...ya...I have never heard of it either....
strange...maybe u have to have a HT processer to see it...
(at which I dun have...I've an AMD...)

You need a multiprocessor kernel to see that affinity thing, but yes, it's there.

Multiprocessor-enabled OSs usually check for # of CPUs when installing, and install the appropriate kernel - single-processor or multi-processor kernel.

I'm talking about Windows XP but I'm sure Win2k also has this feature.
