Hey guys, i'm planning to get the i5-12600KF as it has 10 Cores (6P/4E) and 16 threads, but still not sure if i should get it or just go with the amazing i5-12400F, even though it's for gaming but i use multitasking so much while gaming, and sometimes i launch two games in the sametime, so should i go with 12600KF ? I won't change my components at least for 3 years and above

There's no reason not to get the 12600KF unless you have budget issues.

Why not?

Money aside, in what way is the 12400 superior?

If you upgrade only every 3 years or longer, why not get the strongest you can afford now?
That's what i thought as well, it will better than the 12400f after about 3 years, not to forget i can OC anytime i want

First of all, I always suggest buying the non F version when you can.
The extra $25 or so is cheap insurance if you should ever have a gpu problem.

Worth is something only YOU can determine.
If 12600K fits your budget go ahead and splurge.
The extra price stings for a short while.

If you do not, and buy the 12400, you will for a long time wonder if you did the right thing.

I used to have an F cpu so it's not a problem for me

Keep in mind that the K series don't come with CPU coolers. So the cost difference between the 12400F and the 12600KF isn't as huge as one would think. Unless you are getting a CPU cooler anyway.

Intel GPU does have some cool features though for video encoding, so there is that to miss out on. Also the extra display outputs on the motherboard to hook things up to.

At least in the US, the 12600K is $10 cheaper then the 12600KF at the moment. 12400 vs 12400F is a $44 difference, which is more than enough for a nice 120mm tower cooler.
