Is it worth it to get Ram higher then what the CPU recommends?

I planned on upgrading to the Core i5-8600K, with an MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON AC, but the CPU site says the Core i5-8600k will use DDR4 2666MHz, but if I use like, 3000MHz, or 3200MHz, will it make any difference?

Or is the difference only noticeable if you overclock the Ram via Bios? And it'll just run at 2666MHz if you just plug it in and go?

I thought about getting

But might go for the faster speeds if it'll make a difference, since they're only a 20 or so dollar difference.

Thanks for any and all help!

But even with the rated speed, it'll only go at 2666 MHz until XMP mode is selected right?

Thanks again! :D

That's correct.
