Question Is it worth it to overclock Core 2 Duo e8600?

So I've been wondering
Since the C2D e8600 is already @3.33GHz
Is it worth it to overclock it to a maybe 3,7GHz?

My configuration:

Processor: C2D e8600 not overclocked(3.33GHz)
Mobo: Asus P5K/EPU
RAM: 6GB
GPU: AMD HD 6950 1GB
PSU: 550W bronze

- got 4.6 GHz out of his e8600. He used a Gigabyte mobo. You'll need a good cpu cooler. But you might have to get a bigger psu. Your 6950 will chew up most of the power. I wouldn't try overclocking both of them on a 550W psu. What make and model is your psu?

I agree with the PSU problem.I do have a good cpu cooler(Zalman brand), and currently, my pc is not with me. I'm not sure what the name of the PSU is.

OC away. At this point you've got nothing to lose. The system should be replaced with something newer/better anyway.

Yeah, Ive literally go nothing to lose, this pc is Hella cheap so I don't bother overheating and wrecking it.

All you're doing is increasing the FSB and changing the RAM ratio to keep the RAM @ approximately the same frequency as stock. Follow the video linked above or Google around. Not hard to find results for a CPU this old. 4.6GHz is pretty aggressive from my recollection.

I agree that the 4.6GHz is aggressive, but as I said, I want it to be overclocked to a mere 4GHz

Same technique, just lower FSB.

Try FSB on 400, keep the multi at 10x and your ram on 2x, depending on the silicon lottery that should run stable somewhere around 1.3-1.4v
Got a E8400 that does 4.2 GHz and a X5460 that does 4.1 GHz on 1.4v
