Interesting... But I was under the impression that they were looking for a little more than just repeating patterns. There are natural phenomena which could, in heory, produce repeating patterns - like, say, rotating stars or binary stars... I wonder what kind of criteria - exactly - they use...

I think they don't limit themselves to radio... don't they analize a wider range of waves?

Yeah, actually you can let it run in the background or you can set it as a screensaver. Never had problems with my Athlon 1.0 Ghz doing the calculations in the background. It even runs while I play Counter-Strike online. One WU would take like 24 hours to finish. Now with my 2400+ I finish a WU inside of 4 hours. BIG difference to say the least. As I surf it's running in the background. The only time I shut it off is when I'm defragging the HDDs or when the PC is off.

Not so much repeating patterns rather anomalies in the readings that they receive from the Arecibo Radio Observatory. I personally have not deepened my research in it but I've been running it since I stumbled onto it here @ THGC.

Face it, are we really alone in the universe? C'mon Spock, Bones, your recommendation? LOL ;o)

If you're really interested I gave caimbeul the link.

here is the link to the main page, you get to look at stats, like how many you have done, average time per work unit, percentile, rank, noteable workunits found and more.

Looking foward to havin you on!

Hey, maybe we should have a THGC team or something. If there isn't one already.

I too once had money, then I got into computers...

i have an mmx 200? Hmmm no the closest i have to that is a pII 233 and a pentium 100(w/o mmx)...i suppose if they got married and had offspring they might have a pentium mmx 200?

3 386DX-25's...12 volts...glue some ln2 and a wicked amount of overclocking and you get a willamantee minus 36 pins, 33.75 million transistors and a couple hundred mhz... 😎

oh and btw the pentium has a noisy 40mm fan on it and the pII had a big ol passive heatsink...which is now sitting atop my p!!! 700 with a 50cfm 92mm fan mounted on it...runs less than 35c full load with a 2.05 volt vcore (vs. 1.65 stock)
