Is it worth switching to VEGA for FREESYNC?

Hi eveyone - I recently picked up a gaming monitor which has freesync built in. I currently run a gtx1080, but I'm wondering if it's maybe worth switching to Vega to get the benefits of Freesync?
Does Freesync make much if any difference, or has anybody done the same switch?
Thanks in advance.

Have you seen the price of GPU's recently? especially Vega?
you'd be better to return your screen and cough up the extra for G-sync

Putting price aside - would it be worth the swap?

Alan is completely right. Your questions is "Is it worth the swap" but you are saying "Putting price aside".. its not worth it, not from price and from features. Buy a new Monitor with G-Sync. Thats worth it.

To be honest, Freesync and G-Sync are side features at best and only really become a necessity when you try to remove all screen tearing in general. In which case, it would be better to buy a G-Sync monitor than switch to Vega for Freesync.

Either way, it will make very little difference unless you're very sensitive to screen tearing. To me it would be better to save money.

I'd say you forgot to add most important information - what this new monitor resolution/refresh rate is. Because if those are low compared to your GPU power, you would see absolutely no difference after changing GPU.

I run a 1080ti (had a radeon before) on an Asus freesync monitor. The monitor has premium features (144mhz) that I like and I have never noticed losing the freesync feature.

Thanks for the reply - the monitor is 32" 1080p 144hz - i bought it more for the size and refresh rate. I have a second monitor which is 27" 1440p 60hz.

Thanks for the reply - I hear what you're saying, but from what I've seen GSYNC is really expensive in the UK. So as performance isn't too different between cards i wondered if the switch might bring any benefits - the monitor is 32" 1080p 144hz.

Then you will see no difference - gtx 1080 is more then capable of supplying constant 150+ FPS in almost any game at 1080p. So it is definitely not worth to switch to Vega.
Btw, aren't the pixels too big at such big screen?

Surprisingly no, I only use it for gaming, but so far it's been really good - anything more detailed I use the 1440p monitor

100% no. While it is most certainly ahead in some games I'd not do it just because I don't want to mess with the drivers. DDU, Nvidia clean install and all that. Secondly while it might be a little better prices are a lot worse making the value of the minor upgrade really not worth it. Nvidia's CP has a couple sync options available. I purchased my 1080 Ti for $26 more than a Vega 64 https://www.aztekcomputers.com/RADEONRXVEGA64IR-MSI-9878480.html is currently priced at and the Ti is so much better.

Worth it strictly for a performance boost. No.
