hi i have the 4770K in overclocking to 4,5 my question is

is it worth to update my 4770K to 8700K?? for games?>?>

for how long do you believe that 4770K will serve me for to ,play games?>?

will i see any difference if i will update my 4770K to 8700K for games??

will 4770k last for the next 2 years for to play games??

and one more question
what information we have about
Coffee Lake and Cannon Lake Whiskey Lake και coffee lake kαι ice lake?

which of them will be for phones and which for destops??

will we see 8 cores with big frequencys?? timings?

will ice lake will be good for upgrade?

will we see 8 cores with# big timings and clocks??

what we know until now?? what informations are for all these things>>??

Look at it this way.
Quite a lot of people are still rocking OC'd 2600 and 2700k processors and they're fine.

A 4770k'll probably last you another 2-3 years at least especially if it's OC'd and we don't see the release of new consoles.

So like another guy said, you're fine with it but you can upgrade if you really want to.

Also, this is just my opinion but there are better ways to abuse your CPU than to throw an unoptimised DRM-ridden Ubisoft game at it.

If you follow the actual questions asked, it might be helpful...

The poster asked the hypothetical increase in 1080P frames/sec given a 1080Ti, jumping from a 4770K to an 8700K....

Above, there is a link to Hardware Unboxed comparing a variety of CPUs *with a 1080Ti*, including a 4770K and an 8700K...; I clicked the link, moved the slider to forward to 5:48 until I saw the first graph, and what 'insane' results did I see? Avg FPS of 4770K for Warhammer-- 98 fps, compared to 128 fps of 8700K....

Yes, my estimate of '30%' was *WAYYY* off...; the exact increase was 30.6%. What sorcery is this? At 7:12, you'll see the 1% lows in Deus Ex increased by 29.3%. At 11:03, you'll see the 1% lows in Call of Duty increased by 34% from 119 fps to 160 fps...

I stand corrected. :)

(Naturally, if someone were running a GTX1060 at 1080P, you will see almost no gains at 1080P, however, as the 4770K can still easily saturate the GTX1060. But, then that was not the question asked...was it?)

Naturally, the 4770K, still a quite competent processor, is much closer to matching the 8700K once the GPU is the bottleneck at 4k, which pretty much always occurs..... (Heck, the 2600K still does well at 4k in most games)

However, the poster asked about 1080P framerates...did they not?

I'm not advising the anyone to upgrade,.... I am merely answering the questions asked.

I have exactly the same processor, not overclocking though. I'm sitting it out this round and waiting until at least the 9th Gen release. I'm itching to upgrade because it seem such a long time ago. Honestly I'm not feeling any lack of frame rate of performance issues. So I'm staying put.

I don't want to move to hexacore now when maybe 9th gen is octacore in hopefully a few months time.

I like paying low prices for good HW so I waited 4 years after Haswell was released to get a new CPU. Got my 4790K, mobo, RAM, SSD, and PSU for less than $500.

Like I said in another thread, for value oriented builds, Haswell is the way to go.

likewise. When Core2duo was around I decided to get a Q6600. It lasted me for years. Then I waited for Haswell. Which isn't showing any issues at the moment. The next big decision is whether to jump on 9th Gen [expecting 8 core] or wait for 10nm.

My 4790K puts the 7700K on blast so I'll be all set for probably another 5 years. The only thing that will need upgrading is my GPU since I have so much RAM.
