I would say if your rig is stable and you aren't having any motherboard
releated issues then don't bother. The link here
http://uk.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Support/BIOS/BIOS_GA-7N400-L_More.htm
shows what changes have been made to the last few of releases. If you aren't
affected by any of the changes why would you want to flash the bios? At the
moment, your computer works. If you mess up flashing the BIOS, it won't.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yes! The latest BIOS has a fix for ATA100 detection.
My hard drive was running at far below its potential speed,
and this patch made the difference.

To flash, I used a boot floppy and followed the instructions
on page 71. It worked fine.

After the upgrade, the drive properties in Windows 2000 show
that I have "UDMA5" mode, instead of plain "DMA". Regular DMA
is only 32MB/second.

Now my drive to drive backups (using Knoppix and the "dd"
command) run at more that 50MB per second, much
faster than before.
