Well as the description says I have the i7 4790 and was wondering will upgrade to the k version be worth it. Broudwell is being released soon aswel so is it better to wait. I only use my system for gaming and movies. Or do you think my 4790 non k is enough for my needs

Solution
The main advantage of the "K" versions is that it has an unlocked multiplier and hence overclocking is easier. In your case I don't see it economical to switch to the K version. Use it as-is.
No, it's not worth.

Why would you want to do that? Just to get better performance or you want to do OC.

If it's for better performance then you'll be disappointed, there will be none (almost). 400Mhz difference is not much, even less if it's for gaming.

Wait for Broadwell.

The reason I got the non k was because I dont want to overclock. Getting extra coolers ect but now im starting to regret it with its higher stock speeds. Would the performance difference be noticeable between the 2 at stock speeds?

i7 4790 and K versions are 99.90% equal in performance (only difference is clock speed which is very small).

I would wait for broadwell, upgrading to a K version is simply not worth it. Unless you can make a prophet on it by selling your non K CPU for it's price and getting the K version for half the price.

No unless you wish to overclock your cpu other than that you should not upgrade it at all! if you wish upgrading use that money for a better GPU or additional ram or even a ssd for a faster boot up time

Thanks for replys. I will wait for broadwell then if there is little to none performance boost. My specs are all high end already it was just eating away at me thinking I made a mistake getting the non k 4790. Thanks again
