Is it worth Upgrading My windows OS?

I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit as a gamer would it be worth it to buy windows 8.1 or wait till the new windows os comes out?
I have heard horror story's about windows 8 and 8.1 so I am kind of in between on it.
also fun fact I was using windows xp till I upgraded to windows 7 two years ago....

If you currently have Win 7, wait until the new one is out (Fall 2015). There is no compelling reason to switch to 8.1.

And all the 'horror stories'? Simply people that do not like the user interface. And a lot of them never even used it.
