Is it worth upgrading my Z77 mobo to another one to gain SLI support. Do I need to reinstall Win 8.1 ?

Same CPU and GPU and everything else, just a board swap from a cheap Gigabyte Z77 to another Gigabyte Z77 with SLI support in anticipation of a possible GPU upgrade.

Going from the Z77-DS3H to the Z77X-UD3H.

This all part of my plan to be able to upgrade to 4K Gaming.

CPU= i5 3570K
PSU=Corsair GS800
GPU = Currently a GTX 670 but looking at the 970 or 980 in SLI

With both being very similar boards , you shouldn't have to reinstall.

You might need to reactivate , but that's easily done.

Ok, so in your opinion, is it worth the $100 investment ?
And how hard is it to do the swap if the drivers are different. As in I think the new one has a different audio chip ?
