I know the spec says that it is optical. My question is that why it does not shed red light when in use.

Logitch says the red light is intentionally removed.

The sensor of the G303 is a invisible optical light. It is normal for the mouse sensor not to emit any visible light when connected to the computer and this type of optical light is not visible to the naked eye.
