My system:

Cpu: i7-4790k + Corsair H110i watercooling
Gpu: Asus GTX 1080 TI
Ram: 16gb DDR3 HyperX 1600mhz
Psu: Corsair 750w 80 Gold Plus
Motherboard: Asus maximus vii ranger

So im wondering if my 4790k is bottlenecking my 1080 ti. Im playing bf1 and I can really feel the tearing and the lag spikes. I had 970 before the 1080 ti and I never got lags like this. Do I need a new cpu?

I took some screenshots while I was in-game, this is the results:

'' bf1. The first match I joined I '' then how do you know its not a internet thing or your steam client screwing you over ??? you don't .. se you all ways got to run through them at there terms may not even be any of your hardware issues art all

heaven score look pretty good , but you should use that 3dmark its consistent and results are verified and valid ? then you can match your cpu and card to posted and verified scores of the benches to run ??

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/futuremark-3dmark-timespy/

the older firestrike I think had a stress test but the updated ones don't ? don't know I don't update mine cause when I did I lost some tests [???]

my card stress test under firestrike...
Well, something is wrong and I have no idea what it can be. I shouldn't feel any lag with this and that's why I bought it. My 970 had no lags as I said, I had everything on ULTRA but 90% res scale and I had 90-100 FPS, it was rarely under. Now I can see 70 FPS, and even though I have 120+ FPS I feel the tearing and lag.

Look at this video, at the very beginning you can see that the screen stops. I get this all the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUqmAlnxsTY

I can also tell you that my PC has problems booting up. From 1-15 attempts before it loads windows, boot-loop. I don't know if that's the problem, weird if it is but just want to let you know. I also had this message the other day "Overclocking failed... Press F1 to reconfigure..." Im not even overclocking..

like black bird says that combo should rip

try firestrike ??

''Number of GPUs = ''1''

match your CPU and GPU clockings to matching scores and you should be in the ball park ???

heres the i7 4790 non k with the 1080 ti scores to look at ?? that eliminates any cpu overclocking involved and all gpu work

may try hwinfo 64 and run it in the background you get a bit more useful info to look over from it ??

stupid edit

just to add when you swapped out the cards did you clean uninstall the NVidia drivers and then remove the gtx 970 then add the 1080 ti and do a fresh install of the NVidia drivers ??

when the driver detect your system it will see a 1080ti and ''unpack'' for it if you just swapped the cards out it may be missing something needed between that older Maxwell 970 and the newer pascal 10 series / 1080ti ??

maybe foolish on my part to do so but that's how I se it [ notice when you run the driver installer it checks first then unpacks and installs whats needed ?? ]

Sorry I did not understand those links. No I did not do that, BUT. I formatet my computer right after I plugged in the 1080ti cars so that should not be the problem. I think I have problems with motherboard or ram. Lets say I go for a 7700k or 1800x ryzen and new motherboard obviously, will that fix my problem?

not if theres something wrong with that card ?? then system you got now should run it well and about all you may gain with that new build is a lighter bill fold

looking at this that 7700 don't gain you a thing over a 4790 ?

1080 ti and 4790 top score is just 20192

1080ti and 7700 top score is 21140

http://www.3dmark.com/search#/?mode=advanced&url=/proxycon/ajax/search/cpugpu/fs/P/2183/1127/500000?minScore=0&cpuName=Intel Core i7-7700&gpuName=NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

firestrike ultra [4k] scores are near even as well

1080ti 4790 top score 7340

1080 ti and 7700 top score 7028 ---- looks like you loosing out now and that poor old 4790 is topping it ??

unless you think thatys worth a $$500 +/- in motherboard and memory and CPU for that minimal gain ??

maybe more to your issue but you did say the 970 worked excellent so it would be hard to blame your system over the new card added that's doing poorly ??

[opinion]

The first couple of days, the new card worked like a dream but I was having this https://gyazo.com/4f17dd47a7498a75dc269a017357a018.

And yeah I will buy the 7700k or ryzen if that will help me with this prob. I did benchmark with the 1080ti: https://gyazo.com/5f726cd882cd9c19229d1a169fdb0799

Another weird thing that might help you figure this out. So yesterday I was playing bf1. The first match I joined I did not have under 115 fps all on ultra with 100% res scale. The next match, different map but should not be such difference. It dropped down to 80's. And even tho I had 115+ fps the first round, it was a little bit laggy anyway, something is struggeling and I have formatet computer 3 times the last couple og days.
