I have been building a Gaming PC for some time now and have it to the point where I can use it. But, if I play Hawken I only get 30 FPS on ultra no vsync. My gpu setup is a crossfire 7850 2gb, so that can't be the limiting factor.
Do I need a better HDD or RAM or a new cpu Idk..

Well I have Crysis 2: Maximum Edition... I can max it out and get 40 - 60 fps. Also although it doesnt ahve a huge play in FPS, this would explain why I BSODs randomly. I am using the Beta 14.1 drivers I have 4 HDD, 2 GPUs, and a Few fans running on it. I'm using a Corsair CX750M

Try going back to non beta drivers as 14.1 was mainly for mantle, which still isnt completely stable i crashed in bf4 alot with those drivers and went back to previous stable official release. Either do that or go to the new 14.2 beta drivers. Compare the fps ur getting in other games to benchmark results and if there similar or off by a few fps then ur good, if its quite a bit off then theres a problem.

Again Hawken may not be fully supported/optimized for crossfire or its the drivers but if one card performs better than the two then its surely a driver or crossfire issue.

After some deciding and some further noticeable results, I am figuring it is my hard drive causing the freezes and FPS drops. I shall be picking up a 1TB WD Black soon. I will update the forum when it arrives.

I have switched between drivers and there is no improvement so that rules out the Driver issue, as I say this 14.2beta is unable to install so I won't know if that gave any better results.

I play Hawken with a core i5 3470 and a gtx 660. Manages 60 fps (adaptive vsync on) at almost max settings (a few are turned off as I don't like their effects) at a res of 1280*1024 (ancient monitor). I do get fps drops (to a constant 45+ or 50+) in open spaces like at the aa in front-line looking at the highway. Or at aa in wreckage looking towards the 'wreckage'. However the gpu isn't limited in those instances according to msi afterburner!!
I don't know how to check if the cpu is limiting it though. Could anyone tell me of a program or method?
And I'm also wondering if it could possibly be because hard disk drives aren't fast enough to keep up with modern cpus/gpus meaning I might need an ssd :/

Also I've never noticed fps drops which I'd account for server issues in my 130+ hours in it :) . Currently each server has only 12 players max and there are no community/private servers as of now. The game uses amazon's web servers atm and they generally work well and I get a 84-100 ms ping in my region

my pc has an athlon 2 x 4@3.0 4gb ram@1333mhz 250gb 7,200rpm hhd gtx 750 1gb video

on max settings 1080p WITH physx set to high i get MINIMUM 39 fps average 45....i dont think your cpu can bottleneck or your gpu...so make sure your ram is matched up and set your video card to use application settings.... just stick with the games own post process AA instead of mxaa or supersampling

Necro thread, but with that aside I have since solved the problem. I had a motherboard which bottle-necked my crossfire setup. The motherboard was the Asus M5A97 R2.0, don't get me wrong its a great board and is in another build I'm using it just doesn't do crossfire due to its split channel of Pcie x4 x(.
