Is my Antec power supply good enough for a Core 2 Duo?

I'm planning on upgrading my PC wondering if my current Antek power supply will be enough to power a Asus P5K-V and a Core 2 Duo.

My system configuration will look like:
-Asus P5k-V w/ a intel Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz
-I'll be using mobo's onboard video
-2gb RAM
-320gb Segate SATA HD
-160gb Maxtor IDE
-LG 16x DVDR
-3.25" FDD
-1x120mm 800CFM casefan
-I only have 1 USB powered device

My case is a Antec SLK3700AMB http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=93700#
with the factory Antec SL350 power supply.

Will this power supply be good enough for what I need?
I know a lot of powersupplies might be rated for 500w but are actually crap.
I'm hoping that my Antec will do the job and do it well.

Your current psu has 16A on the 12v rail and you are using onboard graphics. You can give it a try with your processor upgrade and beware of any unexpected system shutdowns or crashes. You might want to upgrade your PSU now to a unit with more power on the 12V. Should you plan to add a video card to the system in the future, you will will need a PSU upgrade. HTH.

I wouldn't trust a low wattage power supply that came with a case, even if it is by Antec. It looks to be one of their very cheap lines of power supplies, so I would recommend getting something new. An Antec Earthwatts 380W is highly efficient(80+ Certified) and should be fine for what you have. The general rule with included power supplies with cases is just avoid them.

It should be plenty.
I would not be surprised if the upgrade actually CUT power usage.
Especially if you are upgrading from a P4.

I didn't realize that Asus has a PS Calculator on their site.

I entered all the specs and it says minimum power supply is 250W.

I also checked out http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine and it says slightly less 239W

upon further research the Antec SL350 power supply has a 20 pin ATX connector and the Asus P5K-V mobo I'm looking requires a 24 pin ATX power connector.
It looks like I'll have to buy a new PS anyway.

Maybe I'll just buy a Antec Sonata III with a EarthWatt 500 psu

- Case: Antec SLK 3700 (with a 12cm FAN)
- PSU: Antec TruePower 350
- Mobo: Intel DP965LT
- CPU: Intel Core2 E6300 (6 months), Intel Pentium D915 (Dual core @ 2,8GHz, 65nm: 18 months)
- VGA: Gigabyte Radeon X1600XT
- 2 x hard disk @ 7200RPM
- 1 x DVD-RW Drive
Before this configuration(s), I ve "underpowered" an ATI Radeon 9800Pro, which "needed" "at least 400 watt PSU. Overall, that PSU has been used for about four years by now, and it still performs very well.

Now I want to know, if anyone can tell me, what to expect from a possible underpowered PC, with this setup:
Case: Antec NSK 1300, with 300 Watt PSU
Mobo: Intel DG965OT (G965 chipset, ICH8DH)
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E6300
VGA: Radeon HD 3870
1 HDD, 1 DVD, 2 USB devices
At this time, this configuration does not suddenly shut down, as I might expected.

If it is stable now, don't expect it to stay stable with an OC/any further OC'ing than you might be doing now. I am running and E8400, XFX 780i, and an 8800GT from PNY self OC'd. All with a 400w Ultra modular. Much overclocking on the CPU will cause crashing. And I cannot get it stable over 3.6, which is possible on all levels, thus being the PSU, I'll try to post my results after I get my 750TX from Corsair.

it will run fine. ur system wont use more then 200w so u could probably oc a bit if u wanted to.
