I bought my pc prebuilt Hp's 870-120 in April 2017, maybe it was the cost of the ram was and still is spiking up, maybe because I wanted to stick a budget and the shipping costs of each component was going to wholesomely screw me over even with a shipping service to reduce the costs, mostly because I was too lazy to build my own pc.It has decent specs and I bought it new for 100$ it was quite the bargain, the problem with getting a pre-built though is because I didn't go through all the trouble others went through I am pretty much a noob.

I am not fully sure if NVME SSDs are fully supported on my motherboard, if I can boot from the SSD and if the motherboard won't bottleneck the SSD in any way.I am planning on getting the 960 pro since it's one of the strongest ssds and I am worried about spending more money on an SSD than my entire rig and in the end the ssd isn't supported.I am worried about my motherboard since it's an oem motherboard, it has the lGA1151 socket and one M.2 socket 1 key A and
one M.2 socket 3 key M here's a link to the product specifications if you want to check it out https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-870-100-desktop-pc-series/12079703/document/c05320646/

yes the specifications clearly state it, I am more worried if my motherboard won't bottleneck it in anyway and if I can boot from the ssd

I don't think your motherboard will be a bottleneck for the speeds of the 960 pro, but I think is total overkill, unless you are in the enterprise field.
On paper the Samsung 960 Pro is one of the fastest consumer SSD, but that does not necessarily translate into faster performance when compare to the less expensive SAMSUNG 960 EVO.
Even if you get an Intel SSD 600p Series you won't see a difference on booting time and application loading time.

It doesn't matter as much as you'd think, I found 960 pro 500gb for 160 $ as opposed to 200$ for evo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.The anomaly doesn't occur if I compared the 600p to the 960 pro instead the 600p is 170$.I am gonna go with the pro because the difference in the price range is very negligible, 10$ between the 600p and the pro don't you think it's worth it.Anyway that's beside the point, how do I check if an boot from the ssd???

P.s I am pretty disappointed I thought atleast the 500gb versions will be less expensive than my entire rig

the evo comes in 500,600 p and pro comes in 512, I said 500 because they're pretty much the same and I didn't remember which was which.I feel like no one has ever heard of ebay, some people claiming absurd things like newegg or amazon (lol) is the cheapest way to get computer parts.I know how to change the boot order, the problem is lots of people seem to be asking whether their respective motherboard supports booting from their ssd and I don't want to get the ssd and then figure out I can't boot from it.

p.s besides that, ebay is just a mainstream solution, you could probably get much better deals from local sales although I can't speak for the reliability of the product from a local garage sale.

Yes, that PC can boot from a NVME SSD.
Yes we have heard of eBay. I would ask the seller to include the original invoice in case you need to take advantage of the warranty.
You could get good deals anywhere. Sometime in local stores and sometimes online.

Thanks, I was worried about that.I don't intend to use the warranty, they usually don't accept warranties on devices purchased from different countries and I don't feel like arguing with a clerk in a warranty repair office their lives are miserable enough. To clarify I don't mean local shops they're almost as bad as amazon (almost), I mean local garage sales and ads these people are usually very desperate to sell. I got 8gb ddr4 ram for 15$ of a sucker, it takes much more time investment than online shops but it can be very profitable, however, there is the small fact that if they're selling for that price maybe they didn't obtain the thing legally and are just selling it for scraps for a quick profit.
