Is my CPU being held back by my Ram?

I have a i7-4790k and my ram is G.Skill 1600 2x8 (16GB). I have low physic score on 3dmark compared to others. I have been trying to google this issue, but I was able to mark of a few things.

It isn't a bios issue in the settings everything is as it should be such as 8 cores are showing up, hyperthreading is enabled, etc. I did come across a few things mentioning it could be my ram, but I wanted to make sure before potentially putting money into upgrading my ram. I am using ram that I carried over from a previous build, but it is still good ram, but it seems it may be holding back my i7-4790k.

If it is the case that it is what ram would you recommend? 1866 or 2400?

1600 is the faster that Intel processors support for DDR3. Going any faster will force your CPU to overclock it's memory controller. You RAM is not a bottleneck and stop worrying so much about scores. Unless you notice a decrease in performance, it's not an issue.

Still just bothers me a bit I just thought maybe something could have been wrong. When you put money into a system you want it to run like it should so I was just making sure. Really apperciate the response.

To be precise, how much lower is your Physics score when compared to others? If it's quite a large divide, it could be a CPU issue and would easily warrant a replacement from Intel. Although do note, Intel will require you to run other benchmarks to test your system as well because it could be an issue with the app you tested your system with.

http://www.3dmark.com/fs/7105057 It seems pretty low to me from how others looked around 10,000-13,000.

Run the Windows Experience Index... Control Panel > System and Security > System > Windows Experience Index.. The Subscore number for CPU and RAM will not be the same but they should be close... if the RAM has a substantially lower subscore number, it would hold back the CPU and viceversa.

I have Windows 10 I can't use Windows Experience Index in Windows 10.

@thor220 really apperciate the response it gives me relief knowing that it isn't that bad. Like I said I did worry for a second there. The CPU does turbo clock to 4.4Ghz and max temps is 63c (Using a coolermaster 212 evo heatsink). Just had to make absolutely sure there was nothing wrong. I really do apperciate both your guys help!
